Central Ohio
announces
Concentrated Giving Program
Columbus, OH (November 16,
2004) Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff, LLP celebrates 20
years of service in Central Ohio with the announcement of their
Concentrated Giving Program on Friday, November 12, 2004. Over the next 3
years the Columbus office of Benesch will partner
with St. Stephens Community House to focus financial and volunteer
resources specific to the needs of St. Stephens. To celebrate the new
initiative, Benesch hosted the board members of St. Stephens for a
kick-off luncheon.
C. David Paragas,
partner-in-charge of Benesch's Columbus office explained the details of
the program, which include building a children's library in the first
quarter of 2005. We are
excited to partner with St. Stephens Settlement House as the first
recipient in our Concentrated Giving Program. We hope a 3-year partnership
with St. Stephens will allow us the time and focus to build a meaningful
relationship with results that will make a difference to our community,"
Paragas explained, "As
attorneys, we believe knowledge is power. The best way at to instill knowledge is
through reading and to teach children the joy of reading at a young age is
a first important step. Developing a library for the children at St.
Stephens became an obvious fit for our firm."
The library will be built
in two phases. The first phase will be the children's library from
0-3rd grade and is scheduled to be dedicated in early January
2005. The second phase of the
library will be for teens and the elderly. St. Stephens has dedicated space in their center
for both libraries. Benesch employees will hold several book drives to
collect books for the libraries from their families, clients, friends and
community. They will also paint and decorate the spaces to make them inviting for the members of
St. Stephens to sit and read books or check-out books to bring home with
them.

Member states, "Benesch's commitment to St. Stephens is an example of how
a relational approach rather than an institutional approach can work. This
is the development of a new model that we at St. Stephens hope acts as a
catalyst for other law firms, businesses, corporations, and groups.
Benesch is breaking new ground as to how funders look at issues. They are
trying to have an impact with a focused giving program. As a result they
are able to be much more focused on the dignity of the individual. They
are not simply interested in writing a check, but rather establishing a
real relationship with an agency who touches our community. Their work
will not only impact St. Stephens
as an institution, but also the community at large which St.
Stephens serves."
